Dr has revealed that he’s been threatened by locals with violence after he gave one of his holiday cottages to a Ukrainian family.

The star recently shared how he’d purchased four properties in the Welsh county of Pembrokeshire, and that .

However, despite many applauding the kind gesture, some locals have reportedly slammed the star for purchasing a large quantity of properties.

They also highlighted that many locals are struggling to find homes themselves due to a shortage, and that second home owners such as Dr Alex are pushing up the prices.

Some referred to Dr Alex’s decision to purchase the properties as ‘disappointing and upsetting’ and claimed he’s part of the problem resulting in locals not being able to buy homes for themselves.

After the backlash, Dr Alex took to his Instagram Stories to defend his decision to purchase the properties.

In a statement, he wrote: ‘For clarification, because it seems to have caused quite a lot of confusion.

‘These cottages are a singular converted farm out-house. These are on the land of another residential house.

‘There is a good reason why we have opted for most to be for holiday stars and one of which can be for a refugee family and yes, afterwards a local if the family decide to leave.’

He continued: ‘I appreciate those who have tried to respectfully share concerns about housing in the area.

‘Sadly I have received a number of threats of violence which is never acceptable. Let alone abuse.’

‘You can take my word for it or not, these cottages would not be possible for residential purchase.

‘If (I will not be pushing anyone out the door) and when the refugees wanted to leave. I will invite a local to rent the suitable flat.

‘I would happily meet with local leaders to discuss housing in Pembrokshire and see how I can support.

‘I am an avid campaigner and activist myself but being respectful and reasonable should always be a baseline for discussion’.

Later, he then issued another update to his stories, in which he said that he’d been listening to the Pembrokeshire locals, and that he’d ‘understood’ what they’d said.

The A&E doctor said that there had been some confusion, and that he’d in fact purchased one property that had been split into four separate outhouses.

He added: ‘I apologise for any confusion or frustration caused and hope I have provided some clarity’.

The mental health advocate also revealed that he’s received threats of violence since he announced the news on social media.

, Dr Alex wrote: ‘Today’s the day!

‘I’m so excited to announce that I’ve bought 4 holiday cottages in beautiful Pembrokeshire, in Wales.

‘I initially bought these for my passion for property and renovation, as well as wanting to create relaxing spaces for families to holiday and enjoy the Welsh countryside in!

‘With all of the current devastation in , I have decided I would love one of the cottages to be home to a Ukrainian family for as long as they need.
