is one of a slew of stars that was prettythis year, even sharing his efforts on Instagram with his followers.
However, his fans were a little less impressed than he was, good-naturedly ribbing the singer over his choice of character looking like he hadn’t even bothered.
To be fair, Ed, 32, was inspired to dress up as another famous redhead so there was already a little superficial similarity.
The Eyes Closed chart-topper took to social media on October 31 to share his fancy dress, writing in the caption: ‘Happy Halloween from Vegas.’
The dad-of-two then posted a carousel of posed pictures of himself as vicious serial killer doll Chucky, the main baddie of the Child’s Play horror franchise who .
Ed appeared to have specifically based his outfit on Chucky’s from the current TV series, which serves as a sequel to the seventh film, 2017’s Cult of Chucky.
Giving his best demonic smile, the star wore a multi-coloured striped top and blood-splattered patterned denim dungarees, emblazoned with ‘Good Guy’, the make of the Chucky doll, which is voiced by Lord of the Rings actor Brad Dourif, 73.
He also had various stitches and scars across his face, like Chucky, and even provided a picture of the infamous doll for comparison.
Alas, fans were ready with the jokes, with one asking: ‘Why didn’t you dress up this year?’
‘Was about to say this,’ chimed in another follower, as someone else quipped: ‘Your Ed Sheeran costume is so Dope??.’
‘Okay, but why does this suit you so much ??,’ asked a different person.
‘You should always have this outfit on a standby,’ insisted another fan as another, more positive, reaction enthused: ‘I WAITED FOR THESE ???? You won this years Halloween ??’
Ed has previously both admitted to a similarity with another famous Chuckie – that of Rugrats fame – while also dressing as Chucky previously for Halloween, way back in 2012.
His Halloween posting this year was actually slightly delayed to celebrate the day, after the Shivers singer took to the stage for his Las Vegas show on Saturday as Chucky.
He also welcomed Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers onstage as an unannounced guest, with the duo singing along to a version of the group’s huge hit Mr Brightside, which Ed joked was ‘essentially like my country’s national anthem’.
They also duetted together on Castle on the Hill as Ed wrapped up the US dates for his Mathematics Tour, which picks back up again in Japan in January.
