legend Edge has wrestled his final match in Toronto.
The 49-year-old Hall of Famer on Friday night in front of a hometown crowd with wife Beth Phoenix and their daughters on the front row.
The official broadcast ended with Edge and the Celtic Warrior hugging in the ring after the former world champion celebrated with his loved ones following a huge win with the Spear.
After the show went off the air, the Rated R Superstar had a message for the Toronto crowd, and he admitted he still isn’t sure what the future holds after what he had revealed was the last match of his current contract.
However, he did confirm his career is coming to an end and he doesn’t think he’ll make it another year to wrestle again in his hometown.
‘What I can say is that this is my last one in front of y’all,’ he told fans in footage circulating on social media after the show.
‘I don’t think I can make it another full run to get here again for a match. I’m just being honest with you, but don’t let that be a downer because, man, what an experience you all gave me.
‘I will never forget it. I will never forget it. When I’m 84 years old, and I don’t remember much, I’m damn sure going to remember this. Thank you.’
There still appears to be a chance Edge will wrestle again, but it seems certain he won’t be performing in the ring by this time next year.
Brian Myers, who rose to fame as Curt Hawkins on WWE SmackDown after he and Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder) joined forces with the Hall of Famer as The Edgeheads as 2007, has admitted he.
He exclusively told Metro.co.uk before the match: ‘I want him to be at peace and comfortable with his career and his accomplishments, and be happy with himself to walk away when it’s time to walk away – if it is time to walk away.’
WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on TNT Sports 1.
