Britney has beenfor over 20 years, with millions of fans all around the world, so plenty of people likely knew this already.
But it’s clear Sir Elton has now also joined the ranks of her fanclub and is singing Britney’s praises from the rooftops.
He and Britney last month the Toxic singer’s first new music in six years and her first release since the end of her 13-year conservatorship.
The track – a remix of Sir Elton’s 1971 hit Tiny Dancer – proved, shooting up the charts around the world.
Sir Elton has now admitted he had hoped for the song to be successful to help the former teen idol gain back her confidence in the studio after a seriously difficult few years.
Speaking to on Radio 2’s Breakfast Show, Sir Elton said: ‘If anyone needs to have an arm put round her and to get back to what she does, it’s Britney.’
The veteran musician, 75, added: ‘What I wanted to do when she completed (the song) was to enlighten everybody that this is one of the great pop stars of the world, one of the biggest stars in the world.
‘She needs to get back to that. She’s had a horrific time that no one really should go through.
‘So if this is the way to getting her back to making another record – a Britney Spears record – then that’s what I wanted (the song) to turn out to be.’
While the track hasn’t hit number one in the UK’s Official Singles Chart, coming in third after Eliza Rose’s BOTA and LF System’s Afraid To Feel, Britney has been delighting in the success of her return to music.
On the day of its release, with millions listening in and sharing their praise with the musicians, Britney thanked fans for their support in her own own brilliantly unique way – posting a video from the bathtub.
Doing what appeared to be a British accent, the Everytime singer excitedly told fans: ‘I’m in the tub right now and I’m about to go have the best day ever! And I hope you’re well!’
The duo are also reportedly planning a music video for the new track, though details of what it could involve are being kept strictly under wraps.
Britney’s successful return to her music career comes as the mum-of-two suffers an ongoing difficult time with her family, including her teenage sons Sean Preston and Jayden James.
