Caitlyn, 73, announced the heartbreaking news with a photo of her late mother on her 95th birthday.
She said she was ‘heartbroken’ over the loss, writing in full: ‘I am heartbroken to announce my mom passed away yesterday morning, peacefully.
‘Losing a mother is unique in the sense that she is the only person that I will miss her tremendously.
‘She was a few weeks shy of 97 and lived a full life. Love you mom.’
Caitlyn has now given her 14.5million followers an update.
Over the weekend, she shared a snap of herself looking emotional while speaking at her mother’s funeral, standing next to a framed portrait surrounded by flowers.
A second photo showed Esther’s gravestone which had been engraved with a moving poem.
The reality star wrote in her caption: ‘I spoke at my moms memorial service yesterday.
‘It was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do.
‘I miss her terribly every day.’
‘She is loved and missed and in a better place’, she concluded.

Brandon Jenner, who Caitlyn shares with Linda Thompson, wrote a heartfelt tribute.
‘She was an amazing woman. So glad I got to say a last goodbye over the phone’, he penned.
Reflecting on his favourite memories, he continued: ‘I’ll remember many moments, but, one of my favorites will always be when she told me, among the billowing smoke in her condo, “it’s not the cigarettes that will kill you, it’s the filters that will kill you.”

American newscaster Harris Faulkner also commented: ‘Caitlyn, nothing takes the place of a Mother’s Love. She saw you first. And you blessed each other. I pray that the Lord comforts and strengthens you and your family during this difficult time. Best, Harris’.

Caitlyn’s late mother was incredibly supportive of her throughout her life.
When Caitlyn came out as transgender, she was among the first to speak out when news of her transition emerged, telling RadarOnline that she had ‘never been more proud.’
‘I am more proud of [Caitlyn] now than when [she] stood on that podium and put the gold medal around [her] neck.’
She added that Caitlyn ‘deserves all the respect.’
