Odenkirk was reared in Naperville after being born in Berwyn, Illinois. He is one of seven children born to Barbara Mary (née Baier) Odenkirk and Walter Henry Odenkirk, both Catholics with German and Irish ancestry. Walter Henry Odenkirk worked in the printing industry. Because of Walter’s drinking, which contributed to his parents’ divorce, Bob decided to abstain from alcohol as much as he could.
