Escape to the Chateau’s Dick and Angel Strawbridge spoke about how they wanted their beloved Channel 4 show to end before the .

This week, it was reported that the couple are reportedly under investigation, for an unknown reason.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Channel 4 to Metro.co.uk: ‘Following a review, we have taken the decision not to work with Dick and Angel on any new productions in the future.’

Production company Two Rivers Media also added: ‘We can confirm that we will no longer work with Dick and Angel and cannot comment further at the moment.’

Last year, Dick and Angel, who have been married since 2015, took part in an interview ahead of the release of their ninth and final series of Escape to the Chateau, which first premiered in 2016.

The couple outlined that despite reports that Channel 4 had decided to cancel the programme, it was their decision.

‘You know what, we wanted to go out on a high,’ Angel said in October, as Dick added to : ‘Rather than someone asking us to stop!’

They continued at the time: ‘There’s still so much to do in the house, we could probably go on for a few more years, but every year we’ve said to each other, does it feel right to do another series?

‘Because it’s not a format as such, it’s our family life. With Arthur being 10 in January and Dorothy being nine next year, it was a natural time to stop.’

While the couple wrapped up Escape to the Chateau, it was revealed that they were working on a spin-off for 2023: Escape to the Chateau: Secret France.

It was reported that the series had been due to consist of four episodes lasting one hour each.

However, following the news of Channel 4 no longer working with them, it’s unclear whether the show will air.

Amid the news that Dick and Angel were reportedly under investigation, it was reported by that concerns were originally raised by Two Rivers Media.

Three former colleagues who spoke to the publication alleged that the pair clashed with the producers.

A source said: ‘There has been a deteriorating relationship between Two Rivers and Dick and Angel’s Chateau TV for various reasons and it all came to a head.’

‘Producers turn them into this perfect, brilliant, funny couple. They’re that on camera, but that’s about it,’ another source added. However, one producer described them as ‘warm and welcoming.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted Channel 4 regarding Escape to the Chateau: Secret France.
