has serious beef with emo favourites Evanescence after they ‘robbed’ him of a almost 20 years ago.
The In Da Club star, 48, was majorly in 2004 after the release Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.
But he lost out to after the release of their 2003 album Fallen.
While plenty of rock fans who grew up in the noughties that gave us My Immortal, Going Under and Bring Me To Life, it certainly wasn’t a mainstream hit – and 50 is apparently still sour that he was beaten by the band.
Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee, 41, recalled the moment they won in a new interview, including the moment the rapper walked on stage while she was giving their acceptance speech.
’50 Cent hates my guts,’ she told the , insisting ‘we thought he was going to win, too.’
The Window Shopper rapper walked on the stage while Amy delivered the band’s winning speech – but walked across it and off again rather than interrupting, with Amy saying into the microphone at the time, ‘what did I do? Thanks, 50.’
She said ‘he didn’t do anything bad … he didn’t grab the mic, it wasn’t that bad.’
But while he didn’t say anything to Amy, ‘he still likes to talk about me and how he was robbed. I don’t want to start a beef with him.’
50 was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2020 and used the moment to take a dig at Evanescence over the Grammy snub 16 years previously.
He said in his speech that he had ‘the largest debut hip hop album’ but ‘got no best new artist trophy.’
‘The best new artist, they gave that to Evanescence. Can you find Evanescence? I ain’t seen Evanescence since that night. Since that night they gave them the trophy.’
Amy, meanwhile, went on to describe winning a Grammy as ‘stressful.’
‘I just remember thinking, “I don’t think anybody in this room knows who we are.”‘
Evanescence went on to become massive names in rock, emo and goth circles, and last year celebrated Fallen’s 20th anniversary with a major world tour including a night at London’s O2 Arena.
50 Cent, of course, remains one of the biggest names in hip hop and has been nominated for a Grammy 14 times, winning in 2010 for his role in hit track CrackA Bottle.
He is currently in the middle of a major tour with multiple dates across the UK.
His shows drew fans from all walks of life, as one elderly woman went viral after she was recorded as he performed in Birmingham.
50 Cent is also currently feuding with Madonna.
