Having cleared Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice without taking damage, speedrunner Seki attempted the same for Elden Ring.
Managing to complete to begin with is impressive enough, but some players have gone a few steps further by trying to beat it quickly. One speedrunner has done so in , albeit with the aid of glitches.
Now, another speedrunner has made history by being the first person to beat Elden Ring without taking a single hit. Yes, you read that right. They took no damage whatsoever, not from enemies, traps, or falling, and they did it in less than three hours. Impressive considering the game has an entire poisonous swamp area.
The speedrunner in question, known only as Seki, is no stranger to these kinds of self-imposed challenges. They once completed another FromSoftware game, , without taking damage. He even as part of a charity event.
Despite his experience, this was still a monumental task for him, as evidenced by how loudly he cheers upon killing the final boss. He even mentions that, because of the nature of the run, he couldn’t take advantage of buffs that increase how much damage he deals when he’s at low health.
He does technically die near the very beginning of the game, choosing to jump off a nearby cliff rather than fight the first boss. However, you’re meant to lose to that boss anyway and dying at that point progresses the plot, making it the one exception to the challenge’s rules.
You can watch the full livestream on YouTube below, unless you haven’t beaten the game yourself and don’t want to be spoiled. If you fancy skipping to see how he handles the final boss, it’s at the 2:50:20 mark.
Elden Ring is still barely two months old so its speedrunning history is in its infancy. It may sound difficult to believe, but someone could break Seki’s record in the future.
Also, don’t be surprised if players start trying more outlandish challenges like beating it with their feet or using a Guitar Hero controller – all of which has happened with previous Soulsborne games.
Elden Ring is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
