First look images have been released for Happy Valley’s third series – and it appears the show is going to .
Six years after the last season of the crime drama aired on BBC One, as Sergeant Catherine Cawood.
The acclaimed actress is getting right into the thick of the action in the new episodes, with a new picture of Catherine showing her looking upon a crime scene in shock with her nose streaming with blood.
is also returning as Tommy Lee Royce, having been locked up in jail since the end of season two, but it looks like he’s also been in a recent scrap.
The Little Women star looks gormlessly at the camera in a new snap, with two stitches on his forehead and his facial hair grown into a bushy beard.
Catherine’s grandson Ryan (Rhys Connah) has grown up drastically since viewers last saw him, now he’s 16 years old and living with his grandmother.
However, conflict could be brewing at home, as Ryan doesn’t appear to agree with Catherine about the kind of relationship he would like to have with his father, Tommy.
Catherine’s bloody nose comes about in the aftermath of a police raid – and the police sure do have a lot on their hands over in Calder Valley.
The protagonist discovers the remains of a gangland murder victim in a drained reservoir, and in circumstances that she surely wishes were different, the chain of events that ensue leads her right back to Tommy.
While Catherine is on the verge of retiring from the job, she still has a lot on her plate, with the circulation of drugs still a prevalent issue in the valley.
An array of cast members are joining Sarah, James and Rhys in the final episodes of the show, including Siobhan Finneran as Catherine’s sister Clare, Ishia Bennison as Joyce, Shane Zaza as Shaf, Chord Melodic as Sledge, and Mete Dursun as Gorkem.
Other actors in the cast include Con O’Neill, George Costigan, Charlie Murphy, Derek Riddell, Karl Davies, Susan Lynch, Rick Warden, Vincent Franklin, Amit Shah, Mark Stanley, and Mollie Winnard.
