The biggest stars rarely have an easy journey and the new teaser trailer for One Love gives a glimpse into the turbulent life of the reggae legend.

With the approval of the Marley family, this biopic will explore the life of Bob Marley and it’s not going to gloss over the harder moments, such as the assassination attempt.

The iconic Jamming can be heard in the background as a crowd chants ‘Marley’ before the first look at Marley and the Wailers can be seen.

‘Where you wanna start?’ Marley is asked, to which utters his first words as the music legend: ‘From de beginning.’

The official synopsis reads: ‘Bob Marley: One Love celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love and unity.

‘On the big screen for the first time, discover Bob’s powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music.’

The 37-year-old actor has skyrocketed in fame as he appeared in Marvel TV show and is one of the Kens in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.

He rose to prominence on shows like Vera, The OA, and Peaky Blinders, before taking on his first biopic as Malcolm X in One Night in Miami….

‘My life is not important to me, my life is for people,’ says Ben-Adir as Marley, between clips of the singer performing to adoring crowds and walking through riots.

He later says: ‘One love, one heart, one destiny,’ referencing Marley’s 1965 hit One Love, which forms part of the film’s name.

Kingsley is joined by as wife Rita Marley, who fans are hoping will be able to sing in the film as she did in Matilda: The Musical.

In its tweet announcing the trailer, the Bob Marley Estate wrote: ‘One man. One message. One revolution. One legend. Watch the Bob Marley: One Love teaser trailer now – Coming to theatres 2024.’

Another added: ‘Can’t express how long I’ve been waiting for this moment big up to everyone making it possible.’

The family are clearly excited for the film as son Ziggy Marley, 54, shared how he felt ‘now is the time for the story of our father’.

Marley was a major influence in bringing reggae music to the masses with numerous accolades, many of which came after his death, including induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The One Love singer was outspoken politically, calling for peace and unity in many of his lyrics.

He was a major voice in the Rastafari movement and supported the legalisation of cannabis.

In 1976, an assassination attempt was made on Marley with him, his wife, and manager Don Taylor suffering from gunshot wounds.

After what is thought to have been a politically motivated attack, the family relocated to England but Marley continued to perform and push his plea for peace.

He died from cancer on 11 May 1981, aged 36, after melanoma found in his foot spread to his lung and brain.

Bob Marley: One Love, directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, is set to be released in 2024.
