Florence Pugh has hit out at speculation that she is dating Will Poulter, branding the claims ‘silly’.
The actress, who starred alongside Will in the 2019 horror film Midsommar, felt compelled to speak out after they were spotted.
The pair were photographed having a frolic in the sea and laughing and joking around as they swam around with friends.
Florence, 25, who is in a relationship with is in a relationship with Zach Braff, set the record straight in a statement shared on her Instagram story.
‘No, Will Poulter and I are not dating,’ Florence penned. ‘We went to the beach with our friends, who are always about half a metre away from us in every picture, but have been cleverly cut out/framed out so that it looks otherwise.
‘You can LITERALLY see my best friend in the corner of so many shots and Archie’s arms at the sides.’
Florence continued: ‘I understand that the nature of this job is that you sometimes get your privacy completely bulldozed by paparazzi, but to fabricate this stuff actually does more damage than good.
‘Thanks for saying we look sexy… doesn’t mean we’re doing the sexy.’
Florence and Will, 29, struck up a friendship while filming trippy folk horror Midsommar, which has been billed as one of the best releases in the genre in recent years.Â
The actress, however, has been in a relationship with Scrubs star Zach, 47, since 2019.
Florence, who will next star in Don’t Worry Darling alongside Harry Styles, previously , and the ‘bullying’ she’s received over their 21-year age gap.Â
‘It’s so weird to me to go on to someone’s page and sh*t on it,’ she in July 2021.
She added: ‘I think it bugs people that it’s not who they expected.
‘But it’s my life, and I’m not doing anything to please people or to make it a better headline or story. I want to also be a person.’
