There’s already a version of Wordle for music fans and now there’s one for cinephiles as well – but is Framed too easy or too hard?
Wordle clones seem to be going in two directions at the moment. On the one hand there’s those that are just minor variations on the original, often just making it extra hard, like . Then on the other hand you’ve got games like , which are inspired by Wordle but don’t really play much like it.
is very much in the second camp, to the point where it hasn’t even bothered to put -rdle at the end of its name. It does still give you six guesses to name a famous movie, but there are no clues other than an initial image.
That means there are no coloured tiles or typing in letters, you just make your guess and if it’s wrong you get another screenshot, until either you get it right or you’re out of goes.
Framed is a lot closer to Heardle than it is anything else, as there’s an autocomplete for any name you enter, so you don’t have to worry about spelling or remembering the exact name of a movie.
The problem, as with any of these games involving expert knowledge, is that it’s in danger of being too easy if you know the film or too hard if you don’t.
Although if you don’t get the one on Tuesday, February 22nd by image number five it may be that Framed just isn’t for you – either that or you’re definitely not a horror fan.
As usual with Wordle clones there’s only one puzzle per day but Framed does have stats you can share. However, it’s unclear whether it’s properly licensed, so some film companies may not be happy about it if it becomes a big hit.
