They say cold-water swimming has its health benefits, but from the looks of BBC’s new show, dipping in the icy cold brings more challenges.
The new trailer for Freeze the Fear with, features eight celebs embarking on an epic adventure through the sub-zero temperatures of Northern Italy.
Across the six-part series, they’ll be living together in a tented village surrounded by snow, and be testing themselves – both physically and mentally – with challenges like walking barefoot in the snow and freezing showers.
Snippets of the trailer show a teary , supporting the ‘victims’ of the ice, and squirming as they undertake some brutal challenges.
Leading the way, extreme athlete Wim Hof will be guiding the celebs through the cold.
The so-called Iceman has been teaching the benefits of cold-water therapy for decades, with a global following including athletes and A-listers.
Wim holds an impressive 26 world records for his ability to withstand the freezing cold, and even has a breathing method named after him.
He’s ran a half marathon above the Arctic circle barefoot, submerged himself in ice for nearly 2 hours, and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in just his shorts and shoes.
Wrapped up warmly alongside Holly as her co-host is comedian Lee Mack.
And while they may not be taking part in the challenges themselves, , adding: ‘It literally takes your breath away.’
Speaking on The One Show earlier this month, the This Morning presenter revealed: ‘I was in tears at many, many points throughout it.’
She also shared that watching the celebs go through these ‘life-changing’ experiences was on the of the ‘best things [she’s] ever done’.
Putting themselves through the daring adventure include Alfie Boe, Chelcee Grimes, Owain Wyn Evans, Dianne Buswell, Tamzin Outhwaite, Patrice Evra, Gabby Logan, and Professor Green.
Freeze the Fear will air on BBC this year.
