star Simon Minty is over the moon to step into a new arena – literally.
The fan-favourite, 55, has appeared on the long-running programme since 2021, delivering his verdict on the week’s hottest telly along with his sister Jane Minty.
But he revealed on Instagram he has a massive new gig and is venturing into the world of athletics for the first time.
Sharing a picture of himself with a huge grin, Simon shared he will be competing in the World Dwarf Games in Cologne next month.
He captioned the post: ‘S**t just got real. My kit has arrived for the World Dwarf Games in Cologne next month. Kinda cool becoming an athlete in your 50’s.
‘I enjoy competing although the best bit for me is meeting and hanging out with other short people from all over the world. #DSAuk #WDG2023 #Cologne #LetsGoGBLetsGo.’
Simon shared he would be competing in the power lifting / bench press and Boccia, which is a mix of Boule and bowls, categories.
His new career move prompted an outpouring of support from his fans, with one writing: ‘Oh wow ? it looks amazing Simon! How exciting ?.’
‘That’s fantastic. I’m sure you’re going to come home with a gold medal. Love the kit too. Good luck. Keep us posted with updates during the games x,’ another penned.
A third commented: ‘Amazing! Get ready for all those [medal emojis].’
It comes after it was reported that from Channel 4 in a bid to ‘shake up broadcasting scene.’
According to , Gogglebox’s contract is renewed ‘roughly every three years’, but ITV managing director Kevin Lygo approached the show ‘mid contract’.
The publication understands that Gogglebox will continue on Channel 4, staying put, and has been recently airing on the broadcaster.
