Good Morning Britain star ‘heartbroken’ after dog found dead moments before show

presenter revealed the tragic news that his dog Meg has died.

The TV personality, 49, took to to share that his beloved pet had died after being hit by a car after escaping from their house.

In an Instagram post he uploaded a brief clip of him beaming next to his dog, penning: ‘I am heartbroken.

‘My lovely dog #Meg got out of our house, we think chasing a fox. She was hit by a car and died. We are all totally devastated.’

He continued: ‘She had been moved from the side of the road and placed by a tree with a small blanket covering her. Thanks to the person who did that. I don’t know who you are but you need to know that what you did made it easier for my wife and children when they found her.’

Sean, who shares two children with his wife Luned Tonderai, shared how losing Meg has been one of the most challenging things he’s gone through as he thanked his colleagues at ITV for their support.

The host then revealed he was away with work when the incident happened so was unable to attend her burial.

He added: ‘So being away with work when she died was so so hard. I can’t tell you how hard it’s been. I had a live show to do that evening and it was one of the most challenging things I’ve had to do in my career. Thanks to my friends and colleagues @coastandcountryitv @itvwales @ruthfromthetelly @alex_c_hartley1 @riddsusan @elinllyr @hannaht.itv @jamesharriesmultimedia @kelseyredmore, Brian Ullah, @fiona.francis1 and everyone else (sorry if I haven’t mentioned you) for being so supportive. Your kindness will be remembered.

‘So, from afar I watched on facetime as my family buried her in our garden. Meg was a beautiful dog. She had a fantastic character. She was a massive part of our family. She has left a hole in our lives. We are all so upset. And I will never forget you Meg.’

Fellow ITV stars offered their support to Sean, with Ben Shepherd replying: ‘Sean I’m so so sorry to [hear] this- sending big love to you all.’

Susanna Reid added: ‘I am so so sorry Sean – what a beautiful dog she was and what a painful loss.’
