will be making a spectacular return to the small screen in a matter of days, and according to the judges, could have bright future in the West End world.
, , Michaela Strachan, Colin Salmon, Danny Care and Alex will be taking on including , Les Misérables, 42nd Street and Hamilton in the upcoming special.
Musical theatre powerhouses and judges Elaine Paige OBE, Samantha Barks, and Trevor Dion Nicholas will be critiquing their performances, with John Barrowman returning as presenter.
Theatre experts Samantha (Les Misérables) and Trevor (Hamilton, Aladdin) expressed how ‘proud’ they felt watching the stars ‘blossom,’ during rehearsals – but Trevor explained that it was Alex who stood out among the rest.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk and other press, he said: ‘There’s a unique quality in him that already made him so engaging on Good Morning Britain, and that’s that intangible star quality.
‘In my overall experience with All Star Musicals, I think he’s one of the ones, where if he wanted to, he could end up in the theatre industry.’
‘He’s a very talented, wonderful human being, it was wonderful to work with him,’ he added.
Not giving too much away over his performance, Alex, 41, teased that his number is from the hit musical Hamilton – a production that follows the remarkable life story of Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of America.
‘They came with a couple of songs that they wanted me to try, and they came with one particular one,’ said the presenter.
‘I had second thoughts about doing the show, because you don’t want to go onstage and look stupid. Once I got over the shock that it’s that song, from that musical which is one of the most popular songs, I kind of got to grips with it.’
While Alex felt initial ‘panic’ over the exciting gig, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! winner Jacqueline expressed that she couldn’t wait for her children to see her take centre stage.
‘I am so excited to take part in All Star Musicals,’ she said.
‘It’s thrilling and terrifying, and I can’t wait to tackle a musical number that everyone knows and loves.’
Countryfile host Michaela added: ‘As a wildlife presenter, I don’t often get the chance to swap the walking boots and outdoor gear for something sparkly!
‘I’m attempting to do something I haven’t done for over 30 years, spoiler alert, it’s not the can can!’
Elaine, Samantha, Trevor, and presenter John will be opening the star-studded show with a special rendition from the 70s musical Grease.
All Stars Musicals will premiere on Sunday April 3 on ITV and ITV Hub.
