She will be joined by William Sitwell, Jay Ratner, Leyla Kazmin, and Jim Famurewa, in the firing line on the series. Rather than sitting, or more specifically eating on the sidelines and handing out the critique to the competing chefs, they’ll be cooking themselves.

‘After 20 years of @MasterChefUK it’s finally happening…This the critics take to the stoves to battle it out. So that’s @jayrayner1 @gracedent @leylakazim @Jimfam Oh, and me,’ wrote William alongside a group shot.

The five critics were donning the famous white aprons, and smiling to the camera – let’s see how long they remain happy after the tables are turned on them.

Who will whip themselves up a victory, and who will crumble under the pressure placed on them by Gregg Wallace and John Torode?
