star Laura Adlington has hit back at cruel claims she is promoting obesity.

The 33-year-old is a passionate baker whoof the show.

Laura has now revealed she has been targeted by nasty comments and admits she feels ‘battered’ by trolls.

The star took to Instagram this week where she admitted she was ‘really struggling at the moment’ and has been ‘for a little while.’

She said she had ‘fallen out of love with [Instagram] and the superficialness of it all.’

‘I’ve also been feeling really s*** since finding out some people in my life “don’t agree” with what I’m doing and think I’m “promoting obesity”. Pretty hard to hear it from strangers on the internet, let alone people in your extended family.’

‘I just feel a bit battered to be honest,’ she admitted.

‘I know people often follow posts like this with “I’m not after sympathy”…but as I’ve been very open and vulnerable I’ll continue to be honest and say…some sympathy would be really lovely right now.’

She went on to thank fans for the ‘love and all your support,’ adding they will ‘never know what it means to me.’

Laura got the sympathy she needed, as fans rushed to the comment section to shower her with support, with one person saying they were ‘angry’ that Laura had been accused of promoting obesity.

‘It literally makes NO SENSE,’ they wrote. ‘I really appreciate you being here.’

Another said they were ‘so sorry’ to hear what Laura had been going through, saying ‘it speaks volumes to the honesty that you offer here that you have the strength to talk about it at all.’

And as one person put it: ‘Big difference between promoting obesity and promoting body acceptance. You’re lovely and encouraging.’

Laura regularly shares body-positive messages on Instagram, posting photos o her outfits with joyous messages to followers, including one urging them to ‘wear the shorts, wear the dress, wear whatever the bloody hell you want. You could be dead tomorrow.’

The 2020 GBBO contestant was labeled the most ‘relatable’ contestant ever during her run of the series, as viewers loved her attitude – and the fact she cried into a freezer when her dish didn’t go quite as planned.
