Gyles Brandreth has revealed that he declined an invitation to appear on Strictly Come Dancing for a reason that most of us can relate to… he has no rhythm.

After was announced, the Gogglebox star and television personality shared bosses had made a play to get him showing off his moves on the ballroom floor.

Sadly though, to no avail.

Taking to Twitter, Gyles penned: ‘Yes, I have been approached about doing #Strictly (and I’m flattered because I love the show), but sadly it’s not for me for this compelling reason: I ain’t got rhythm … I REALLY ain’t got rhythm.’

We feel your pain, Gyles.

The incoming edition of Strictly will see the likes of Countryfile presenter Helen Skelton, EastEnders actor James Bye, singer Fleur East, and Ted Lasso star Ellie Taylor perform for returning judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood.

Former panellist Bruno Tonioli confirmed his departure from the programme in May, explaining that his busy schedule with Dancing With The Stars was to blame.

Last month, it was confirmed that four new professional dancers will be when the series returns – European cup winner Vito Coppola, Chinese National Champion Carlos Gu, former Under 21 British National Champion Lauren Oakley, and Latin dance champion Michelle Tsiakkas.

Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, , Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Cameron Lombard, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Giovanni Pernice, Jowita Przystal, ,  and Nancy Xu will all be returning too.
