Heather Joan Graham was born to Joan and James Graham on January 29, 1970, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her father used to work for the FBI and is now retired, and her mother is a writer and a teacher.
Graham and her sister Aimee grew up together (also an actress). She moved around a lot with her parents and sister before moving to California when she was nine years old.

Graham’s first movie role was a cameo in Mrs. Soffel, which didn’t get him any credit (1984).

Student Exchange was the first movie for which she was given credit. In 1986, she was on an episode of the NBC game show Scrabble called “Teen Week.”
