has announced she is quittingafter 14 years.

The ITV presenter, 42, revealed the decision in a statement released on her Instagram on Tuesday (October 10) and said it was a ‘difficult goodbye’, prompting an .

Her departure comes during which a 36-year-old man was charged over an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her and the exit of her long-time host Phillip Schofield after admitting to .

: ‘I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning.

‘To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so much. This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together. Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.

‘Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the best company every day.

Richard and Judy said, “We only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers”. It’s been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go. Sadly, however, I now I feel I have to make this decision for me and my family.

She concluded the post: ‘I will miss you all so much.’

Holly’s former co-stars and fellow TV icons rallied around her, with Alison writing on Instagram: ‘This is a very sad day ! Love you ?.’

 added: ‘We are so supportive of you and we love you to bits, we just wish it didn’t end this way. Its a sad day for everyone. ?.’

‘You have made me laugh until my cheeks ache sharing the sofa with you. We are sending you so much love HW,’ said Josie Gibson.

Friday host Dermot O’Leary penned: ‘Nothing but love and respect for you and yours. X.’

ITV boss Kevin Lygo also said in a statement the broadcaster was ‘sad’ over Holly’s departure but ‘respect’ her decision.

He continued: ‘Holly is one of the best-loved, respected and most accomplished broadcasters in the UK.

‘She has been at the heart of This Morning for the past 14 years, and she is adored by our viewers. 

‘Holly has brought her unique brand of warmth, energy, humour and fun to one of the country’s most popular daytime shows, and everyone on the programme will miss her enormously. 

‘She remains a much-loved member of the ITV family and we look forward to continuing to work with her in the future.’

The Wylde Moon founder’s departure comes after she was said to have been  moments before it was set to air last Thursday over an alleged kidnap plot.

Last week, a man named Gavin Plumb, 36, was  with soliciting to commit murder and incitement to commit kidnap of the ITV presenter.

Plumb, from Harlow, Essex, was reportedly not known to the TV personality.

On Friday, a court heard how he in the US to murder her and had weapons stashed in his home.

Holly was  following Plumb’s arrest, and feeling ‘shaken’, ‘petrified’ and ‘unable to take in’ what happened, sources close to her claimed, with her London home reportedly being guarded by police.

Earlier this year, Holly’s longtime This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield quit after admitting to with a runner, which she said had left her feeling ‘let down.’

It’s said the pair haven’t spoken since the 61-year-old quit ITV although it’s claimed he recently reached out over the alleged kidnap plot.

The source told The Mirror Holly was ‘really happy’ to hear from Phillip.

An external review of the facts after the former Dancing On Ice’s departure is currently under way and ITV bosses have said both Phillip and his former lover ‘repeatedly denied’ allegations of a relationship until the star quit ITV and formally apologised.
