Steps really went all out for their this weekend.
Consisting of Lee Latchford-Evans, , , , and , the pop group’s performance on Sunday night (August 6) marked their only UK show of 2023.
They ensured it would be one fans remembered, though, as their delighted the thousands-strong crowd with all their hits – and some iconic outfits.
Taking to the stage at Preston Park for the Brighton and Hove Pride event, Steps donned matching white costumes jazzed up with rainbow accessories.
We had Lisa, 47, in a cropped purple jacket and knee-high boots, while Faye, also 47, wowed in a bodysuit with sheer pants.
Claire, 45, and her powerhouse vocals took centre stage with her hot pink jacket and rainbow streamers, while Lee, 48, busted out all the famous choreography in a sheer shirt.
However, there’s no denying that H, 47, caught everyone’s eye in his ensemble, showcasing his gym-honed physique with a pair of tiny shorts.
The Tragedy hitmaker had his muscly pins on full display in the white bottoms, paired with a gorgeous glittery corset and silver arm cuffs.
But the glamour didn’t cease there, as H also wore a truly stunning accessory around his neck – a pearly Vivienne Westwood necklace, of course.
The music icons gave the performance their all, starting off the set with Love’s Got A Hold On My Heart before bursting into Neon Blue after being introduced by drag queen The Vivienne.
Other songs in the set included the bop that is 5, 6, 7, 8, and Heartbreak In This City.
There were even some covers thrown in, such as a poptastic version of Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s anthem Rain On Me and a new rendition of Sam Smith’s Unholy.
Steps closed their set with Scared Of The Dark, Chain Reaction, and Stomp, well and truly bringing the house down after an hour of tunes.
Following their performance, fans had nothing but praise for the band, with one Twitter user writing: ‘Steps just challenged Britney for best Brighton Pride headliner’.
‘Steps just did Rain On Me at Brighton Pride. GAY RIGHTS’, another declared as others demanded a studio version immediately.
Another fan was left emotional, revealing Steps dedicated one of their songs to ‘trans people and their struggles’.
Despite all the love they received this weekend, Steps performing as a five-piece isn’t something we should get used to, sadly.
The British pop group originally formed in 1997 before splitting in 2001 and reuniting in 2017.
And while they’ve had six years of fun, now Pride is done.
‘Obviously, we’ve got Brighton Pride in August,’ Claire promised anxious Steps fans last month. ‘But apart from that, we are taking a break.’
Speaking to , she continued: ‘Pride came up and it was something that we wanted to do for a long time, so that’s why we’re doing it.’
However, she added: ‘At the moment, everyone’s just concentrating on individual stuff, which is nice and it works for us when we do that.’
As for when the Deeper Shade of Blue vocalists might come back, Claire admitted she didn’t know, but promised that all five members were working hard, so that’s something to keep us optimistic!
Their Brighton Pride set follows a string of incredible performances this weekend, with Zara Larsson and
Although, the latter’s set didn’t go without a hitch, as Black Eyed Peas had their gig thrown into chaos due to technical issues.
The group – comprising of will.i.am, apl.de.ap, and Taboo – suffered an awkward moment
Crowds carried on singing the top hit I Gotta Feeling as the singers tried to resolve the issue, holding up a UK flag while a Pride flag was displayed on-screen to end the American group’s set.
Despite the interruption, the band was still able to dedicate their penultimate song Where Is The Love? to everyone suffering injustices around the world and end on an uplifting note.
