was quizzed about her Valentine’s Day plans with before it was revealed they had secretly split after 20 years together.

The Borat actor, 52, and fellow actor Isla, 48, shocked the showbiz world this week when they announced for last year.

They tying the knot; they also share children Olive, 16, Elula, 13, and Montgomery, nine.

While on the outside their marriage appeared as strong as ever, with romantic holidays away and PDAs on , they revealed in a statement on Friday that had secretly ‘jointly filed to end our marriage’ in 2023.

But before this news was revealed, everything had seemed perfect between the pair, leading to an awkward quizzing in an interview with Kelly Clarkson earlier this year.

Isla appeared on the musician’s chat show where she was asked if the couple celebrate Valentine’s Day, and Isla — now notably — avoided saying whether they had solid plans this year.

Instead, she said they tend to ‘not do a lot’ as they are busy with their three children, but added they had a tradition where Sacha would always give her a card.

‘Every year, Sacha does give me a card that’s like, “Happy Valentine’s Day from…” and then there’s like a giant question mark. As if anyone else would send me, as if I have any other Valentine’s. I’m a mother of three.’

She added that she would always act as though she was intrigued by her ‘secret admirer’, with Kelly calling the pair ‘couple goals’.

The interview took place just weeks before Isla and Sacha announced in an Instagram post that they had quietly split months earlier.

They noted that throughout their relationship they had ‘always prioritised our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change,’ adding they would always have a shared ‘devotion’ to their children.

This week, a source claimed that the pair had explosive arguments in the lead-up to their split, as they butted heads over their careers and parenting duties.

An insider told that they had witnessed the couple having a ‘heated argument’ in public at a Hollywood A-lister hotspot.

They claimed the couple ‘furiously argued’ over their conflicting schedules, from filming to promotional tours, and childcare for their three kids.

‘Multiple’ sources told the outlet that the pair’s marriage had been rocky for a long time before they filed for divorce last year.

Another source claimed Isla and Sacha had been ‘living separate lives’ since last year, but wanted to wait and let their children deal with the news before making their separation public.

They claimed the split had ‘nothing to do’ with recent allegations in Rebel Wilson’s memoir, Rebel Rising, which accused Sacha of inappropriate conduct on the set of their 2016 film Grimsby.

Sacha has denied all the allegations through his lawyers.

Isla and Sacha announced their split with an Instagram post on Friday with aphotograph of them both in tennis outfits, alongside a caption which read: ‘After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down.’

In August last year, the pair shared photographs from a romantic holiday abroad, where they kissed on the beach and took in sunsets together.

And on her birthday the previous year, he showered Isla with love calling her a ‘brilliant woman’ as he shared multiple photos of her from over the years.

Making the obvious Borat joke, he added: ‘Wanting to celebrate a red-haired, Scottish, Arabic, Aussie, Jewish brilliant woman who is, it appears, my wife.’
