ITV viewers are fuming after the entire Monday morning schedule was scrapped.
The usual seven and a half hour block of television – which starts with Good Morning Britain and is followed by , and Loose Women – has been taken off air.
However, it’s only temporary and there’s a good reason for it, with ITV instead airing coverage of the .
First, the channel showed vs Argentina, before going into Germany’s 6-0 win over Morocco, while the later game is Brazil vs Panama.
Not everyone was pleased by the wall to wall football, with plenty of people raging on Twitter – or is that X? – over the change in schedule.
‘Seems football is more important than actual news #GMB #ITV,’ tweeted one viewer, while another joked: ‘Nothing like #GMB being taken off the air to leave you confused as to what day it is.’
A third person ranted: ‘Seriously, football this time of the morning! I could understand if was playing. News obviously isn’t important.’
Others asked if GMB had gone off air for the summer, and some suggested alternate broadcasting options for ITV bosses to consider.
A fourth viewer said: ‘@GMB @ITV when did football become more important than news & current affairs? Not everyone likes football so why has it been put on the main ITV channel on a weekday when there are other ITV channels to choose.’
And someone else argued: ‘Why doesn’t @ITV move their programmes to one of their many other channels while the #WorldCup2023 is on – like the BBC does? Instead of cancelling everything.
‘You have a streamer you’re desperate to promote to. Use it. #gmb #thismorning #loosewomen #itvnews @ITVX @ITVXhelp’
Meanwhile, others admitted they didn’t know what to do with themselves due to the change, and had to find other options away from ITV.
A fan tweeted: ‘Absolutely no ITV morning TV ? not sure what to do with myself #Lorraine #ThisMorning. #JermyVine or #MorningLive it is.’
