Jack Dee has revealed he’s been approached by BBC bosses to participate in .
With just a few months to go until the treasured competition show returns for another series, the comedian, 61, let slip that producers had reached out to see if he’d be interested in taking to the ballroom.
Speaking to fellow comedian and former Strictly contestant Seann Walsh, 37, on their Oh My Dog podcast, Jack shared: ‘I had a phone call. My agent said I’d been asked to do Strictly.’
Seann, who appeared on the programme in 2018 where he was involved in a kissing Scan**l with dance partner , immediately replied: ‘Oh my God.
‘Jack, can I just tell you, it does wonders for your career!’
Seann’s sarcastic comments come after his appearance on the show was marred in controversy when photos and videos emerged of him kissing dance partner Katya outside a pub in London.
They quickly found themselves in the middle of a storm, mainly due to the fact Katya, 33, was married to fellow professional dancer Neil Jones, 40.
Seann was also in a relationship with his girlfriend of five years, Rebecca Humphries.
Continuing their conversation, Jack told him: ‘The first thing I said was “I’ll ask Seann what his advice would be.” And she said, “‘I’ll take that as a no in that case.” I said, “It’s probably a safe bet, yes”.’
Sean, however, replied: ‘No, not at all. That is not what I would say. I would say, “Absolutely go for it.” I think you’ll be fantastic.’
Jack then jokingly added: ‘Yes, I know, but I can’t help but pay attention to the evidence of what has happened to various people I know who’ve done the show.
‘I had two thoughts on it, cos obviously everyone loves Claudia Winkleman and she’s everywhere, she’s great, but I thought they should consolidate all the shows that she does so you have a thing where people come on and dance and then members of the public will ring in and vote for who they want to have murdered.’
It looks like Jack probably won’t be waltzing onto our screens later this year then…
