Fellow singer-songwriter Jean was proposed to by the 46-year-old star when she and her band returned to the stage to perform The White Stripes’ 2001 hit Hotel Yorba near the end of the set, according .
After she accepted, White asked the crowd: ‘It’s been such a great day, mind if we get married right now?’
The crowd cheered at the news, with the duo leaving the stage only to return moments later with family members including White’s mother Theresa and Jean’s father.
The ceremony was officiated by ordained minister and record label founder Ben Swan.
White’s rep confirmed to Metro.co.uk that the ‘nuptials are valid’.
Despite the rocker’s shows having a strict no phone policy, video footage of both the proposal and marriage has been posted online.
The energetic but short exchange of vows was hyped along by a very excited crowd and underscored by some groovy electric organ-sounding freestyle.
Before White said his ‘I do’, he introduced Jean’s father to the crowd and asked: ‘Do we have your blessing sir? Be honest.’
Luckily, he got a ‘yes’ in response.
After Swain pronounced the couple husband and wife, they enjoyed a hug and first kiss as a married couple.
They then reportedly closed the show in fine fashion, with White carrying his new 32-year-old bride offstage before they returned to close the show with a few more songs including, of course, his iconic hit 7 Nation Army.
As well as fitting a proposal, engagement and wedding into the space of mere minutes, White also put in an appearance earlier on Friday to perform the US national anthem at the Detroit Tigers’ opening baseball game of the season with the Chicago White Sox.
Just to add another thing White ticked off his list on Friday, he released his new album, Fear of the Dawn, too.
White has been married twice before: to White Stripes bandmate Meg White from 1996 to 2000, from 2005 to 2013.
Jean has had success as a solo artist and as lead singer for The Black Belles, and has collaborated with White since 2009.
However, their relationship was kept private until they tied the knot in front of a venue full of fans.
