has shared a pretty blunt picture followingagainst Spain in Berlin this evening.
’s Three Lions were hoping for a historic victory – the first international trophy in 60 years – but it wasn’t meant to be as Spain saw in the full time whistle beating the boys 2 – 1.
While the celebrities showered the England team with all the love and affection leading up to the result, they are now sending slightly more deflated messages of condolences for themselves, the country and the team.
The star, 64, posted no words but simply a picture of a bin filled with England flags and Union Jacks after the results came in. Ouch.
‘It’s not coming home,’ simply wrote on X, while Nigella Lawson said: ‘Right. OK. That’s it, then Thank you boys for doing your best for us.’
Kate Beckinsale, who posted a supportive message earlier in the eveningshared a video her and her mother Judy Loe watching the game at home.
Commenting on the video and the England loss, Kate said: ‘The only person in the country slightly relieved England didn’t win as I was going to make her get @philfoden’s haircut if we did.
‘(Shes supportively dressed as a beefeater because she couldn’t find her England shirt.) We fought a good fight proud of all the boys🏴❤️ well done Spain x.’
Before the results were in, singer Lily Allen shared a somewhat pre-emptive picture of four bald men with British flags around their shoulders crying into beers.
Meanwhile, Ross Kemp shared a message for the team after posting a video of him losing his mind when Cole Palmer scored an equaliser.
‘Incredibly proud of the boys @England. Back to back Euro finals. Shame we couldn’t get the win,’ he commented alongside a video, in which he said: ‘Thank you England for giving me hope for bringing people together from around the country, for making two finals consecutively. Also, you should have won it. In my heart you should have won it and thank you.
‘You get a lot of stick for being footballers because you earn so much money but you couldn’t have given more than you gave.
‘And thank you Gareth for being one of the greatest, if not the greatest manager England has had.’
Earlier in the evening, Ross posted a very lively video indeed, in which he screeched into the camera about Palmer’s goal.
‘Did we say it?! Did we say it?! Bring him on, bring him on!’ he shouted, before beating his chest and chanting ‘Cole Palmer’ repeatedly.
Raising his finger in the air, he added: ‘Now, finish it!’
Earlier in the evening, former This Morning presenter took to social media with a selfie of him with an England flag painted on his face to support the Three Lions.
This comes after his recent return to social media following his ITV departure in May last year, sparked when he admitted to lying about having an affair with a younger colleague.
Other famous faces to have sent England their support from afar include Dame Joan Collins, and Sir Patrick Stewart.
Dame Joan said in an Instagram post: ‘Happy Sunday! Waking up to excitement and anticipation that England will bring it home tonight! Good luck boys!’
Spice Girl Mel C shared a video of her leading a rendition of the football classic song Three Lions, by comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner and the Lightning Seeds, at Pub In The Park at Reigate as she sent her support.
The singer, who was wearing a Beckham England shirt in the clip, added: ‘Let’s enjoy our day supporting the boys, come on lads, bring it home!’
Former captain David Beckham sent his support to the squad by sharing a throwback photo of him as a boy holding an England football scarf.
‘Good luck to Gareth & the lads the whole country is behind you,’ the football star wrote alongside the post.
Sheeran, who was spotted in the stands at the semi-final, said in his video message: ‘I just really feel that everything is coming together at the right point. I can’t wait for Sunday. It’s coming home and good luck lads.’

On his Instagram Story, singer Olly Murs shared his journey as he travelled from England to Berlin to watch the match.
In a clip shared from his flight, he could be seen joining in with the rest of the passengers in a rendition of the Three Lions chant.
Actor Richard E Grant noted how big a day it was for sport as he shared a video of him walking through a forest to Instagram with the Teddy Bears Picnic song playing in the background.
‘Wimbledon AND football finals! Double dose of marmalade sandwiches!!’ he wrote.
Comedian Ricky Gervais shared a clip from his hit series The Office of his character David Brent saying ‘I bloody love football’ as he kicks a ball around the office.
Alongside the video, he wrote: ‘Come on England! I bloody love football.’
Presenting duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly said ‘come on lads’ alongside a selfie of them wearing England shirts, while Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirly Ballas said ‘come on England’ in a video of her changing into an England shirt.
