has felt the wrath of Gen Z after complaining about the generation’s work ethic.
The, 61, is keen to support, but admits she finds .’
She complained: ‘They’re really annoying, especially in the workplace.
‘They’re like, “Nah, I’m not feeling it today, I’m gonna come in at 10.30am.” Or, like, in emails, I’ll tell them this is all grammatically incorrect, did you not check your spelling?
‘And they’re like, “Why would I do that, isn’t that kind of limiting?”‘
It sounds like Jodie is complaining about a particular person, but the fact she tarred the entire generation of people aged between 11 and 26 with the same brush has, unsurprisingly, raised hackles.
In response to her comments, made in an interview with , critics flocked to X to share their thoughts.
Lauren: ‘Gen Z is no different from previous generations. Some of them are great, some are not. But either way, older generations are gonna complain about them no matter what,’ along with a gif from The Simpsons with the caption ‘Old man yells at cloud.’
Allflicker joked they ‘never thought I’d live to see Cranky Grandma Jodie Foster happen in my lifetime.’
User Happy Fun Time claimed ‘my Gen Z employees are at work on time and deliver on their tasks and objectives. Maybe Jodie’s just a bad boss and can’t communicate what someone’s roles, responsibilities and objectives are for the workday.’
Kyle Marshall wrote sarcastically: ‘BREAKING NEWS! Old lady complains about the youth. This is unprecedented!’
Plenty of people supported Jodie’s comments however, with countless tweets declaring she was right, and complaining about Gen Z in the workplace.
‘Yup, they are annoying,’ Asura wrote, while Alessandra said ‘she’s right’ and Consigliere declared her a ‘queen’.
Jodie is regularly in close contact with Gen Z-ers – as her two sons are slap bang in the demographic.
She shares son Kit, 21, and Charles, 25, with ex Cydney Bernard; they split in 2008 and she married wife Alexandra Hedison in 2014.
She has chosen to keep her children mostly out of the spotlight, however brought them both as guests to the 2013 Golden Globes where she was being honoured with the Cecil B DeMille lifetime achievement award.
During her speech at the event, she credited her sons for being her ‘reason to breathe and to evolve.’
