John Cena confirms major role for WWE Payback on SmackDown return

has been announced as the host of Payback this weekend.

The wrestling legend turned Hollywood superstar isn’t working on any big screen projects at the moment amid the ongoing actors , but he’s keeping busy after .

At the start of Friday night’s show, the 16-time world champion kicked off the show and confirmed he will have a huge role to play on Saturday’s premium live event.

‘I just found this out right before I ran down here,’ he told the fans during a passionate speech. ‘You have given me the opportunity to host Payback tomorrow night!’

Cena thanked the fans for everything they’ve given him over the years and ‘continue to give’, including the chance to wrestle in India for the first time this month, and to be bale to ‘come home to his WWE family’.

He’s set to be part of SmackDown ‘for months’ with dates announced for the next eight weeks, but he got cut off from another big announcement as Jimmy Uso interrupted.

‘We are giving you unforgettable moments. Tonight, we are giving you the chance to see John Cena against,’ the 16-time world champion started before Jimmy came out to a new theme song.

Jimmy – who again claimed he attacked his twin Jey Uso to ‘save’ him from becoming Roman Reigns – insisted Cena is ‘exactly’ like the Tribal Chief, claiming he just ‘takes’.

‘The only difference between you and Roman Reigns is, you do yours with a smile,’ he argued, while the crowd chanted Cena’s name and the iconic wrestler wasn’t going to stand there and be insulted.

”I got to stop you for a second. You’ve had a lot on your mind,’ he said. ‘I’ve been wanting to say this to you for three years, because I’ve only been thinking of one thing. .’

Jimmy tried to take out Cena with a superkick, only to get dropped with an Attitude Adjustment, which could set up the returning legend for a fascinating couple of months in WWE.
