Jonathan Majors arrives at court to appear on assault and harassment charges

has arrived at court on assault and harassment charges.

The actor was photographed outside a lower Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday morning (June 20) for the first time in the ongoing domestic violence case.

Majors wore a brown suit and shielded his face with sunglasses as he carried what looked to be a notebook and cup inside.

As reported by , the Creed III star entered the courtroom at 9:15am and took off his shades before approaching the bench for a status conference, which lasted about three minutes.

Today’s proceedings were brief, as a judge set his trial start date for August 3.

The 33-year-old was and aggravated harassment towards a 30-year-old unnamed woman.

He was taken into custody after police responded to a 911 call in the Chelsea area of Manhattan at 11:14am ET.

The alleged victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was taken to hospital in stable condition, according to a police statement issued to Metro.co.uk at the time.

Majors was arrested on charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment, and taken into custody without incident, with his representative denying any wrongdoing.

Detailing information about  it said he pulled the victim’s finger and shoved her into a car, causing ‘substantial pain’ as well as bruising and swelling.

Included in the most recent revelations, the star’s accuser said he grabbed her ‘right arm, [placed] it behind my body, and use his hands to twist my right forearm and right middle finger, causing substantial pain to my right forearm and right middle finger’.

It’s also claimed that Majors struck the victim’s right ear with his hand, causing a cut, before she fell backwards after being pushed with both of his hands.

His lawyer Priya Chaudhry said earlier this year that they had ‘provided the District Attorney with irrefutable evidence that the woman is lying, including video proof showing nothing happened, especially not where she claimed.’

‘This is a witch hunt against Jonathan Majors, driven by baseless claims.’

When he appears in court again this summer, of assault to recklessly cause physical injury, harassment of physical contact, assault with intention to cause physical injury, aggravated assault to injure family, and attempted assault with intention to cause physical injury. 

All charges listed expect to carry a maximum sentence of one year in a city jail.
