Josh Groban has spoken out on continuing to wear a mask despite it no longer being a requirement on planes
Guidelines in the States mean passengers on planes no longer need to wear a face covering over their noses and mouths.
A ruling on Monday stated that the CDC’s mandatory mask policy on planes was now illegal, which can be appealed if the CDC desire.
However, 41-year-old singer Josh is still wearing his mask to protect his livelihood.
Josh landed at LAX on Tuesday and explained how using his voice for a living makes him extra protective over it.
‘I see you’re wearing your mask even though masks are optional now,’ a reporter said to him.
‘Yeah well, you know, I use my lungs for a living,’ he laughed in response.
However, he acknowledges that he might be in the minority, since people on his flight were cheering when the captain announced that masks were no longer required.
He added that it’s ‘personal preference’ if people do or don’t wear masks now.
‘I’ve got parents in their late 70s and I’m about to go on tour so I’m just being extra cautious anyway.’
Josh is set to head out on his Harmony tour this June, which will run until August.
The Grammy and Tony Award nominee also recently played a residency at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, titled Josh Groban’s Great Big Radio City Show.
He played its first show before Covid caused theatres to close, but returned for two dates at the start of April.
The star delighted fans by hosting special guests on the stage, including Cyndi Lauper.
He referred to the show as ‘unlike anything I’ve ever done before’ in a conversation with .
He said he was ‘humbled’ by the ‘friends and fellow artists’ who agreed to join him on stage for ‘some really unique collaborations that could only happen on a New York stage.’
