Josie Gibson comforted by fans after breaking down in tears on This Morning

The British TV personality, 37, was on the sofa with co-host , star Annabel Croft, and agony aunt Deidre Sanders as they spoke about grief.

Annabel, 57, and competed in Strictly just months after his death, eventually reaching the semi-finals of the reality competition.

At one point during the segment, Josie became overwhelmed when grieving mum Shelley phoned in and spoke about the death of her teenage daughter, whom she lost to an illness aged 19.

Speaking to the This Morning studio on the phone, Shelley said: ‘I’m just so heartbroken, every day is so hard. She was so brave and amazing throughout the two years of her illness.’

Shelley continued: ‘I looked after her 24 hours a day for those whole two years and now I just feel so lost. I go into her room and say good morning and good night to her every night. I just don’t know how to deal with this.’

At this point, Josie, mum to young son Reggie, could be seen trying to hold back tears as she dabbed her eyes with a tissue – viewers watching at home were quick to send their support to the emotional TV host.

Posting on X, MissFee85 commented: ‘This is why Josie should be the new presenter. They are talking about grief, which I myself am going through, and she’s crying. So much empathy for others.’

Another viewer, Jules, said, ‘Oh Josie. Honestly this is why she should be on full time. Her and Craig are so compassionate and so genuine. Josie trying to keep it together is all of us.’

Josie has recently been passed over for the main presenting gig on This Morning as the ITV magazine show moves on from the departures of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

Instead, their official replacements will be TV stalwarts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, hosting every day from Monday to Thursday while Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond will continue in their Friday slot.

Cat and Ben are set to start in their new roles next month, which means for now Josie and Craig will be continuing as relief presenters until the new faces arrive.

As for Josie, this week she after teasing her new looks on Instagram over the weekend.

She captioned the post: ‘Thank you to @fourlondon for changing my locks. I’ve known these ladies for years, and they are insanely talented.’

She continued, saying, ‘It’s a real family atmosphere when you walk in and I had a scream getting my hair done,’ before adding that held her friends responsible for the hangover she was nursing during the hair appointment.
