Behar began her work in the entertainment industry in the early 1980s as a receptionist for Good Morning America, where she later became a producer for the show.

She was a stand-up comedian and made appearances on ABC’s Good Morning America and The New Show, a Lorne Michaels NBC project that was only on the air for a limited time.
