has finally made her views about the reboot known, agreeing with many fans that the continuation of Samantha’s story didn’t feel in keeping with the character.

From 1998 to 2004, Kim became a fan-favourite character on the original show as, a sex-positive PR professional known for her killer wisecracks and uber confident demeanour.

After appearing in the 2008 film and its 2010 sequel, the actress declined the opportunity to appear in a third release, resulting in the subsequent televised revival featuring the former foursome as a trio, as Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis reprised their roles.

While Kim regarding And Just Like That during its run, she has now made her views on the show abundantly clear, explaining that she found out about it on social media.

Having read the script for the third unreleased movie, which was going to feature the storyline of Big dying as played out in the show, she told that ‘the series is basically the third movie’, quipping: ‘That’s how creative it was.’

While Kim wasn’t a part of the programme, Samantha was still referenced in passing, such as when it was revealed that Carrie and Samantha had fallen out after Carrie stopped paying her to be her publicist and when the characters exchanged text messages.

Having not actually watched And Just Like That, Kim said that she ‘heard’ about the plot point of Carrie and Samantha’s feud, stating: ‘Well, that feels different than the Samantha that I played.’

Reiterating that she would still very much say ‘no’ if offered the opportunity once again to play Samantha, Kim acknowledged that it’s ‘powerful’ that so many people wanted more from the character.

‘The original show is in all of our imaginations. But for me, it feels clean,’ she said, adding that it ‘feels like an echo of the past’.

Addressing how And Just Like That has continued her character’s story without her, she noted: ‘It’s odd, isn’t it? I don’t know how to feel about it. It’s so finite for me, so it doesn’t continue.’

Amid the former plans for the third film, it was reported that the narrative for Samantha would have seen her receive unwarranted pictures from Miranda’s son Brady, which Kim described as a ‘heartbreaking’ storyline.

When asked what she would have liked to see Samantha do instead, Kim put forward the idea of the character having to sell her PR company due to financial struggles, an idea that was conceived by one of her reps.

‘That’s a conflict. Instead of an underage boy’s…’ she added, before trailing off.

She added that she had decided to go ahead with a third movie, she would have ‘preferred for all of us to have some kind of event to warrant a third film’, which she noted ‘didn’t happen’.

The How I Met Your Father and Queer as Folk actor also emphasised that ‘it’s powerful to say no’.

And Just Like That is available to watch on Sky and NOW.
