Lifting the lid on their budding relationship in a new interview, the mom-of-four explained that they first connected at the the month before, but the thought of romance initially never crossed her mind.
‘His story is that he had been asking around for my number a little bit and everyone wasn’t really sure,’ she said on the . ‘He just wanted to wait a little bit. But I saw him at the Met and he knew I was hosting SNL, but it wasn’t announced yet.
‘We were talking about SNL and I was like, “They better hurry up and announce it because I will not back out as soon as they announce it, but I’m so nervous”. And so he just gave me good advice and said, “Hey, take my number if you if you need anything”.
‘I had gloves on and I couldn’t get in my phone with the gloves. He was like, “Alright, cool”, and walked away, but I was gonna be like, “Oh, but take my…”. We never connected or anything.’
It wasn’t until the day of Kim’s hosting duties that they met once again, as Pete arrived to rehearse the sketches ahead of the live episode.
When asked if the Skims businesswoman had an inkling of their connection at the time, or noticed the BDE (big d**k energy) that the comedian is famed for, she confessed that their kiss was an eye-opening moment for her.
‘I was not even focused on that. And then when we kissed I was just like, “Hmmm”. It was a stage kiss but it was still a little zing,’ she continued. ‘It wasn’t anything like a super crazy feeling. I was just like, “Huh”.
‘Then I was like, wow I really haven’t kissed anyone else in 10 years so maybe I’m just being stupid and it’s just nothing, it’s just a stage kiss.
‘A few days later, I was like, “Hmm, there is some BDE action, I’ve just gotta get myself out there.”’
Kim, who filed for divorce from Kanye West last February, remained coy on how their romance began, teasing that fans will have to watch her new series to get answers.
The Kardashians premieres on Hulu on April 14, and lands on Disney + the same day – but while their romance will be referenced, .
‘I have not filmed with him,’ she told Variety of the new program. ‘And I’m not opposed to it. It’s just not what he does.
‘But if there was an event happening and he was there, he wouldn’t tell the cameras to get away. I think I might film something really exciting coming, but it wouldn’t be for this season.’
Kim guaranteed that we’ll finally get answers on ‘all the details that everyone wants to know’.
