has opened up about her IVF struggles to have a child with boyfriend Travis Barker.
The reality star is mom to children Mason, Penelope and Reign, who she shares with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick, and spoke of plans to add to her brood with the Blink-182 rocker .
The 43-year-old – which drops on Hulu and + tomorrow morning – explaining that the IVF treatments had ‘put her into menopause’ and given her ‘depression’.
‘Travis and I want to have a baby, and so my doctor took us down this road of doing IVF,’ she told the camera in a VT.
‘It hasn’t been the most amazing experience…
‘I think because I’m so clean and careful about what I put into my body, it’s just having the complete opposite reaction, and is working as a contraceptive instead of helping us.’
During a catch up, mom Kris Jenner asked: ‘How are your doctors going?’
‘Awful,’ she replied, discussing the impact the treatment had on her body. ‘The medication they’re giving me, they put me into menopause. … Literally into menopause.’
‘Based off of what, a drug?’ the matriarch questioned, to which she simply replied: ‘Yes.
‘The medication basically put me into depression.’
Menopause is the transitional stage where a person’s periods stop, and is associated with a whole host of well-documented symptoms – from hot flushes to mood swings, and tends to happen around the age of 50.
When Kris said that she had ‘never’ seen her daughter ‘happier’ amid her budding romance with Travis, Kourtney said: ‘I have everything in the world to be happy about, I just feel a little bit off and not like myself, super moody and hormonal… I’m a lunatic half the time.
‘I think we want it so badly because we want to make something together.’
Kris ended their conversation by predicing that they would have a baby within the next year, before adding to the camera: ‘Even though Kourtney has three beautiful children, it doesn’t make it hurt any less if you’re trying to have a baby and you’ve been struggling.’
