The Met Police has confirmed it’s assessing a video posted by actor in which .
On Sunday, Fox, 45, filmed himself burning flag bunting hanging on a garden fence and added the following vile caption on Twitter: ‘My friend brought me some child mutilation bunting. It got the treatment it deserved.’
A Met spokesperson told Metro.co.uk on Tuesday: ‘Police are aware of a video posted on in relation to Pride flags being set alight.
‘Officers are currently assessing the footage and enquiries are ongoing.’
Shortly after posting the clip, Fox egged on a police investigation, tweeting in part: ‘I can’t tell you how much I hope the police pay me a visit.
‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reporting me.
‘People are fed up with having this rubbish rammed down their throats. If I believed in such arbitrary nonsense as “hate crimes” I’d report you for supporting the destruction of young life.’
Social media users were quick to share their outrage over Fox’s homophobic video, with one person tagging the Met in the following tweet: ‘Hope you’re taking action against this hateful action and deliberately causing hate and upset on social media!’
Another person added: ‘It must be exhausting to be so hateful,’ while someone else wrote: ‘You spent Father’s Day burning little flags in your garden? Rather sad that.’
The Chase star Paul Sinha, who is openly gay, slammed his colleagues for working with the disgraced actor, tweeting: ‘As Laurence Fox films himself burning Pride flags, I remind myself of my friends who think he’s interesting, colleagues who have happily worked with him, mainstream media outlets who have enabled him, and the sheer vapidity of the “well he’s entitled to an opinion” brigade.
‘He is entitled to his opinion. I’m entitled to my opinion that the listed people should be ashamed.
‘I wish that garden was uphill, would have made joke writing very easy.’
Metro.co.uk has reached out to Fox’s reps and Ofcom for comment.
