The latest set from Lego recreates Gringotts Bank from Deathly Hallows – including the underground minecart roller-coaster.
Harry Potter doesn’t always lend itself as well to Lego sets as things like and Marvel but there have been some really great ones lately, including the and a recreation of .
The new Gringotts Wizarding Bank is the best yet, not only because it recreates all the famous locations from the movies and but because it’s a really clever bit of Lego in its own right.
The bank at the top of the model is relatively normal for a Lego set but it’s attached to the underground vaults and tunnels as well, so you can display both at once or each separately.
The bank has an authentic looking foyer and mezzanine, with a safe including Hagrid’s secret letter. There’s also a vault cart track underneath, with a trick mechanism that stops the carts at each of the three vaults – including Bellatrix’s one, with its special surprise.
Also included is a Ukrainian Ironbelly Dragon, which you can put on the top of the building, to recreate the scene from Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.
The set also includes 13 minifigures: Harry Potter, Rubeus Hagrid, Dragomir Despard, Ron Weasley, Bellatrix Lestrange, Hermione Granger, Griphook, Bogrod, Ricbert, a Death Eater, two goblin bankers, and two guards.
The bank section alone is over 36cm high but the whole thing together is over 75cm tall, 32cm wide, and 25cm deep.
It’s made up of 4,803 Lego pieces and, as you’d expect, it’s not cheap, costing £369.99 in the UK. But then it is aimed more at adult collectors than kids.
The set will go on sale from September 4 at Lego stores and the , but if you’re a VIP member, which is a , you can buy it from September 1.
If you’d like to meet the designer of the set, then they’ll be at the Lego Store in London Leicester Square on September 1, between 3pm and 5pm. While you’re there you’ll also have the chance to win Harry Potter And The Cursed Child theatre tickets.
From September 1st to 3rd, other Lego stores will also offer the chance to have your photo taken with various large Lego Harry Potter models, and build a free Lego Harry Potter wand to take home.
