Lego unveils giant-sized Disney Castle and new Tower Bridge mural

The 100th anniversary of is something Lego is taking very seriously, with brand new sets and a chance to meet creators in .

Lego and Disney have been working closely for years, especially through the and Marvel lines, but for the 100th anniversary of Disney itself they’ve produced lots of sets based on their classic animated and live action movies, including a giant 4,837 piece recreation of Cinderella’s Castle.

The 80cm tall brick-built castle contains references to 14 different Disney movies and a hidden time capsule commemorating a century of filmmaking.

The eight exclusive minifigures include Snow White and Prince Florian, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Tiana and Prince Naveen, and Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder.

Turn the castle around and you can find recreations of the Grand Ballroom from Cinderella, with a rotating dance floor; as well as the spinning wheel from Sleeping Beauty; and the Magic Mirror from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

There’s also the dining room from Beauty and the Beast, the mops from Fantasia, and lots of other secret references to other Disney classics.

The Disney Castle set (#43222) will launch on July 4 and to celebrate the event Lego has invited female artists Lakwena Maciver, Amy Jones, and Kristin Texeira to create four giant castle window murals in Lego bricks.

The first of these has been revealed at Tower Bridge in London and is made up over 220,000 bricks and is over 4.5 meters high.

The other three murals will be in Manchester, Paris, and New York City and fans are invited to go along to help build them, if they’re in the area.

If you’re not though, you can visit the Lego store in Leicester Square on July 1 and meet the designers of the Disney Castle and get a chance to purchase it early. The designers will be there from 10.00am to 11.00am, and you can find more details on the .

The Disney Castle will be and at all Lego stores from July 4 (or July 1 if you’re a ) for £344.99.
