Apple have acquired the rights to the untitled film with : Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski set to direct what we can expect to be an action-packed epic.
Pitt, 58, will play a veteran racing driver that leaves retirement to mentor his younger team-mate, who has not yet been cast.
It is well-known that the Ocean’s 8 actor has a keen interest in racing and has been spotted at several Grand Prix in the past.
Pitt’s production company Plan B Entertainment will also assist Hamilton and Days of Thunder co-producer Jerry Bruckheimer with production.
Hamilton, 37, is not the only motorsports expert on the team, as sports and media talent manager Penni Thow is also onboard as an executive producer.
It has not been confirmed who will write the movie, but there are rumours that Kosinski has enlisted Top Gun: Maverick’s screenwriter to work on the screenplay.
This is the second major Formula 1 project in the pipeline at Apple, after they won a bidding war for the rights to a .
The feature-length film will reflect on the seven-time world champion’s iconic life and career, but there is no confirmed release date yet or a date for when production will begin.
At the time, Apple teased that the show would include ‘full access to Hamilton and his team, on and off the track, and an all-star cast of guest interviews.’
Hamilton reflected that it felt like the ‘right time’ to do this documentary and he hoped it would make a ‘positive impact.’
Speaking to he said: ‘The documentary is the current focus. I think stories are there to be told. I think it’s important. I think there’s lots that can be learned.
‘For people… if you can affect and have a positive impact, if your story can have one positive impact even on one person or one family that’s could be amazing.’
In the past, the F1 legend has made brief appearances in films such as Cars 2 and Zoolander 2.
