Liam Gallagher ‘upset’ he ‘let fans down’ after now-deleted death threat tweet to Atletico Madrid’s Stefan Savic

has spoken out after posting a now-deleted tweet targeting footballer Stefan Savic with a death threat, dubbing his behaviour ‘outlandish’.

On Wednesday evening, Savic’s team went up against FC – who Gallagher supports – in the , resulting in a goalless draw.

The drama that ensued on the night extended beyond the pitch, when a which continued into the tunnel.

Savic was seen grabbing by the hair , with police eventually intervening to put an end to the wrestling.

Shortly after the game, Gallagher posted a tweet that read: ‘Stefan Savic this is a threat if I come across you ya goofy looking C**T your dead MCFC [sic].’

However, the tweet has since been deleted, with the former Oasis frontman expressing remorse over his words.

In a new message shared on Friday morning, he wrote: ‘Im really upset and annoyed at myself I feel I’ve let all my fans down by my outlandish behaviour I’m a role model to GROWN UPS hope you can forgive me [sic].’

One fan responded by offering some advice, writing: ‘Never act when you are upset or angry, calm down and think, then you’ll be in the right frame of mind.’

Gallagher appeared to take it on the chin, writing: ‘Ok Thsnx for that advice I’m really gonna take that on board [sic].’

When one of Gallagher’s followers shared a screenshot of the aforementioned threat, the musician said that ‘we all say things we shouldn’t every now and again’, adding: ‘I am guilty of that.’

In another tweet, the 49-year-old wrote: ‘Love love love peace peace peace forgive forgive forgive kiss kiss kiss.’

Following the heated clash on Wednesday night, Atletico Madrid captain Koke defended his teammates, for the ‘madness’ that occurred.

Speaking post-match, the Spanish midfielder said: ‘The match takes you to that madness when you see that you have chances, and they drop to the ground and waste time.

‘Many times, we are criticised for this situation, but today it was them. Let’s see what people think of this. Today it has been seen, we are Atletico de Madrid, and I am proud of this team.’
