Lionel Richie has shed light on seeing daughter Sofia Richie marry Elliot Grainge in a stunning wedding, admitting that he had ‘cried enough’.

In a new interview, the We Are The World singer, at ’ coronation next month – couldn’t help but rave about their big day, and seeing his youngest daughter, 24, tie the knot.
‘Listen to me, I’ve cried enough. Baby girl got married,’ he began. ‘I must say, I’ve known Elliot since he was 9 years old, so I know the groom really well.
‘There’s a thing down South we always say, “Who’s your people?” Well, I know his people, so it really is a real wonder to see them in love and just as happy as I’ve ever seen my little girl and Elliot.’
Reflecting on walking his youngest child down the aisle, he continued to Extra: ‘It was a moment where, yes, I was letting her go, but I was also gaining a family. The family is getting huge right about now, but we are happy. I’m so in love with her.
‘She spent the whole time walking down the aisle [saying], “I love you dad, I love you dad, I love you dad,” and I go… “You’re killing me.” But that’s what a dad wants to hear.
‘I love baby girl so much. The family was there to root her on.’
Lionel was on hand to walk the bride down the aisle during the ceremony – with glimpses of their big day flooding social media.
It was a family affair as Sofia’s sister, Nicole Richie, designed her bridal earrings through her House of Harlow line, with her husband, Good Charlotte icon Joel Madden, performing in the evening.
Taking to Instagram, Lionel shared a glimpse into the nuptials, for those of us who didn’t manage to get on the guest list.
‘My little girl is all grown up and starting her own journey with the love of her life,’ he penned beside a string of family photos.
‘You’ll always be my little bird, but I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become. Endless Love to you and Elliot.’
Sofia and Elliot had been friends for years before they eventually started dating, at the beginning of 2021.
