star Sophia Nomvete has opened up about how close the cast were behind the scenes, revealing how they helped babysit her newborn shortly after she gave birth.
In just one month, fans of ’s writing will finally be able to watch the series set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of yearsand the original LOTR trilogy.
The show will introduce viewers to the first female dwarves depicted on screen in the franchise, including dwarven princess Disa, played by Sophia.
The actress previously revealed that she auditioned for the role days before giving birth – and has shared in a new interview that she found out she’d won the role mere days after welcoming her baby daughter.
She recalled how when she arrived in New Zealand for filming, her co-stars were quick to offer their babysitting services to help out her and her husband.
‘It took a village, and she was raised by everyone and knew everyone,’ she told . ‘People were learning how to change nappies. It was amazing.’
Robert Aramayo, who plays the younger version of the elf Elrond previously depicted by Hugo Weaving in the films, chimed in to add: ‘I can’t believe I’m capable of babysitting, but apparently I am.’
Just like , Sophia’s costume was designed so that she could easily breastfeed her baby, with seams cleverly placed on the shoulders.
