star Natalie Lee has cleared up comments Shayne Jansen made about their relationship, revealing the reason behind their split.
The couple met on season two of the Netflix dating show and bonded in the pods, before taking their relationship to the next level and getting engaged.
It wasn’t meant to last and explaining that they still had a lot to work on in their relationship before saying their vows.
During an appearance on the Viall Files podcast, the groom lifted the lid on where things stood between the couple now, , but it’s ‘over’ between them.
He also said that she described him as a ‘disgusting human being’, and accused her of not being able to ‘get over’ his bond with Shaina Hurley, who he also became close to in the pods.
His ex has now hit back at his comments on Instagram, shutting down his allegations and sharing her side of the story.
, Natalie began: ‘Yes, I know about the podcast and am very shocked by what was said.
‘A few things (of many) I want to clear up: Regarding the comment about me “scripting” our conversations: I never told Shayne what to say nor did we ever discuss or plan what to say in certain scenes.
‘I did, however, set boundaries with filming – specifically I asked him to not drink alcohol before “serious” scenes and to not share in-depth details of our intimacy out of respect for my family. I know he found this frustrating; the latter is what led to our fight in Mexico.’
She also claimed that a conversation she had with Shaina was axed from the final cut of the show, insisting that all of her castmates were present for the chat.
‘I was frustrated with Shayne that day because I heard he said something negative about me behind my back to one of the cast members when I was a few feet away and I let him know I thought it was disrespectful,’ she continued. ‘Several cast members were present for this conversation I had with him.
‘I told Shayne he was “disgusting” Sunday night because he called me to tell me he was going to “bury me” and “drag me down with him” on the podcast because I ended any chance of reconciliation in addition to him feeling I didn’t speak highly enough of him in the media.’
Discussing the ‘major factor’ in their split, she also vowed that it had nothing to do with Shaina, but alleged that Shayne had been exchanging ‘very flirtatious messages’ with other women.
‘He’s right – I haven’t been able to get over this, and it is the main reason I can’t get back together with him,’ she said. ‘This is something we have discussed numerous times via text these last several months.
‘His hangout with Shaina during the premiere of the show is NOT the reason.’
Natalie concluded her post: ‘We dated twice after our wedding, not four times. We rekindled the weekend we filmed the reunion episode but decided to keep the door closed. Recently we met up to discuss the possibility of reconciliation but ultimately agreed not to date until he changed some of his behaviors.
‘A few days later, I fully closed the door for any type of reconciliation after discovering some lies he told me.
‘Maybe in a few days I’ll have more to say on this, but right now I’m saddened and confused by his dishonesty on the podcast.
‘I didn’t think it would get to a point where I’d have to address this publicly, but blatantly lying about me on a podcast for whatever motive is where I draw the line.’
Shayne has not yet responded to Natalie’s comments but has been active on social media.
Earlier today, he promoted the podcast interview on his Instagram story, telling fans: ‘Thank you to everyone who reached out. Even the ones who disagreed. Constructive criticism is always welcomed.’
