A second man who was responsible for handing Mac Miller the fentanyl that led to his deadly overdose in 2018 has been sentenced to 17 years in prison.
The rapper’s cause of death was  caused by ‘mixed drug toxicity’.
Stephen Walter, 49, was sentenced to 17.5 years after pleading guilty to a federal count of distribution of fentanyl.
The news comes after another man, Ryan Reavis, was sentenced to almost 11 years on one count of distributing fentanyl.Â
In November 2021, Ryan Reavis reportedly pleaded guilty to , Cameron Pettit, with oxycodone pills on orders from Walter.
Miller, real name Malcolm McCormick, died on September 7, 2018 at the age of 26 at his Los Angeles home. The cause of death was later confirmed to be mixed drug toxicity involving fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol.
According , Miller’s mother Karen Meyers provided a statement to the court, which said: ‘He would never knowingly take a pill with fentanyl, ever. He wanted to live and was excited about the future. The hole in my heart will always be there.’
Miller was known to explore his struggles with substance abuse and depression in his music, and had released five albums in his career, with the Grammy-nominated Swimming released weeks before his death.
