A man has the internet in hysterics after he attempted to explain what a mall is as if nobody had ever been in one before.
Netflix’s documentary White Hot: The Rise And Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch had viewers in stitches just moments into its 120-minute expose of the high street fashion brand when the contributor dropped the almighty doozy.
‘Imagine a search engine you could walk through,’ he said. ‘Or an online catalogue that’s an actual place.’
Yep, just imagine.
Many poked fun at the comment, with some making light by describing other places.
‘A video store was like Netflix,’ one wrote. ‘But all those boxes with the art were like real boxes, and instead of scrollable rows, they were on shelves, and you sort of scrolled yourself past them, with your feet.’
‘Real life is like what if The Sims was an actual place that you’re inside of and you’re playing just one Sim but you’re literally that Sim and seeing it from their perspective at all times,’ another joked.
While the snippet provided some top-quality entertainment, the Netflix documentary itself exposed some of the horrors behind Abercrombie & Fitch.
Three former members of staff while working for the brand, with one woman being told there were ‘too many Asian employees’.
Abercrombie & Fitch faced a huge lawsuit in 2004 and was accused of discriminating against African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans, and women by offering floor sales positions and store management positions to white people.
It was required to pay almost $50million following the discrimination lawsuit, and they admitted no guilt.
They signed a consent decree and agreed to change their recruiting, hiring and marketing processes, and had to report to a court-appointed monitor for six years. They also were made to introduce a chief diversity officer.
