One of the men suspected of shooting ’s dog walker last year has reportedly been released from jail by mistake.
Three men were charged last February after being accused of attempted murder, second-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with the shooting of the singer’s .
James Jackson, 18, Jaylin White, 19, and Lafayette Whaley, 27, were charged after the incident last February, with Jackson also charged with assault with a semiautomatic firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm in a vehicle.
The 18-year-old was supposedly mistakenly freed, with authorities confirming to that it was ‘the result of a massive mistake.’
Jackson attended a hearing at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Centre, with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department records reportedly showing that he left custody the following day.
According to documents, Jackson was released at 3:38pm, with the reason listed only as ‘dismissed.’
Online records also supposedly state that his the other two suspects, White and Whaley, are still in prison.
The sheriff’s department told BuzzFeed that Jackson’s release was ‘due to a clerical error’ and it is being investigated.
‘The investigation is continuing and the LASD Major Crimes Bureau is actively working to get Mr. Jackson back in custody,’ they told the outlet.
In the clerical error in question, Jackson’s original charges were not replaced with a new indictment from a grand jury like they were meant to be.
Instead, they were dismissed.
Dog walker Fischer supposedly posted to his Instagram story following Jackson’s release, writing, ‘Lord, grant me the serenity’ in one and, ‘Deep breaths,’ in another.
Fischer was , during which two of the Bad Romance singer’s French bulldogs – Koji and Gustav – were stolen.
A third dog, Miss Asia, was recovered by police.
Gaga offered a $500,000 (£383k) reward for the dogs to be returned safely, but it is not confirmed whether she has paid anything out yet.
Following the attack, Fischer shared photos on social media showing bruises on his face while he was hooked up to a breathing machine.
Last March, he added that he was ‘still in recovery’ and focused on his ‘healing,’ thanking the public for their support.
