had some mischievous ways of getting her Barbie co-stars in the pink spirit.
The 33-year-old actress stars as the lead in with and joining Barbie for a chaotic adventure in the real world.
Naturally, the colour pink is a huge part of the entire project, from the sets and costumes to the – they’ve literally in pink to celebrate the film’s release.
So, it’ll come as no surprise that there was actually a day on set when Margot instructed her co-actors to wear pink and pink only.
In true Mean Girls style it was, obviously, a Wednesday.
However, not everyone was so keen (yes, even though they had signed on for Barbie!) so Margot took matters into her own hands.
Appearing on The One Show with America Ferrera – who plays Gloria, a human – the Suicide Squad actress explained all.
‘Is it true that there was one day a week where everyone had to wear pink? Did you have to enforce that? Who didn’t do it?’, host Roman Kemp asked.
Margot replied: ‘Erm, you know, some people were reluctant at first.
‘So, “On Wednesdays we wear pink” was the game. And if you didn’t wear pink there was an optional fine that would be donated to .
‘And I’d say the grips were the most resistant.’
In movie speak, ‘grips’ are camera support equipment technicians – basically, the behind-the-scenes heroes.
The BBC’s camera then panned over to the crew members in the studio who certainly all got the memo and donned their best pink clothing and accessories in honour of Margot and America’s visit.
‘I don’t see anyone being that resistant to pink in this studio, which I’m happy to see!’, Margot praised.
On how she managed to get her co-workers in the mood, she shared: ‘But then I decorated their truck for them, since they weren’t getting in the pink spirit.
‘I snuck off and covered the whole thing in pink streamers and glitter and everything.’
‘They got on board after that,’ she said with a cheeky grin.
Elsewhere in the interview, the Aussie movie star revealed that director Greta actually created a full playlist to help the Barbies get into character before shooting.
‘Greta made a whole Barbie playlist so we played that all the time, which was an eclectic mix of songs, lot of disco… keeping the party alive!’
She was also full of praise for the set and how it helped her find her ‘inner Barbie.’
‘It’s kind of easy to find it when you’re on a set like this. We had everything built. Real, life-sized dream houses and Barbie Corvets, the sets were just insane.
‘You couldn’t walk onto the Barbie Land set and not be in the zone.’
Barbie lands in cinemas on July 21.
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
