Dermot Mulroney, best-known for roles in films including The Wedding Date and My Best Friend’s Wedding, walked off a live taping of TV show The View.

The actor, who’s currently starring in Marvel’s latest series on Plus, did so in support of the writers currently on in Hollywood.

The 59-year-old was filming an episode of the programme that was reportedly due to air on Friday June 23.

The interview was said to have taken place as planned, with Dermot speaking about his role in the MCU release, his past performances, career and family.

According to a source who spoke to , the actor turned to the hosts of The View to ask if they were getting ready for a commercial break, before thanking them and walking off the stage during a segment.

The actor reportedly told the panel that he was going to ‘symbolically walk off in support of the writers’ who are currently on strike.

Despite walking off the stage, he’s then said to have returned to the stage during the commercial break to take photos with the presenters.

It’s been said that the episode will still air as it happened on The View, despite being filmed in advance. Variety has contacted ABC for comment.

In a statement, Dermot said: ‘Since I have such respect for The View, a news program with a heart, it was there that I felt comfortable enough to draw attention to the ongoing WGA strike for fair wages and working hours, as I find it incredibly important to continue to support the union.’
